With guidance from the State, Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association (MYSA), and our Boston Area Youth Soccer (BAYS) League, we are instituting several changes to our soccer programs this season.
To be clear on the flow, the guidance/rules start at the state level with the Governor's office and the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA).
The EEA then communicates the guidance/rules to MYSA who in turn communicates them to the leagues (such as BAYS) and the town soccer programs (DSSC).
Based on those communications and guidance, we have summarized the changes coming for the season into 5 categories with details for each category available here on the DSSC Website (click on the links below to navigate directly to that category):
More detailed information can be found in the Soccer Activities Protocols document attached at the bottom of this page.
The safety of our players, coaches, referees, parents, and spectators is our number one priority. To that end, we have also designated DSSC Covid Safety officers, Sean Correll and Susan Cottrell, to act as a communication liaisons with MYSA. In addition we will be:
- Designating a Covid Volunteer for each team to take attendance at all practices/games and to monitor compliance with the new guidelines. The team Covid Coordinator checklist can be found at https://www.mayouthsoccer.org/assets/61/6/team_covid_coordinator_checklist_march_25,_2021.pdf
- Developing practice curriculum that minimizes contact and exposure during practice (under the guidance of our Director of Coaching)
- Forming a task force of healthcare professionals in our community to provide the DSSC with guidance on activities
